Sr. Quality Engineer

Location: Cambridge, U.K.

Job Purpose:
The primary purpose of the role is to provide a Quality Engineering service to the development of nCipher's product range and supporting the Quality Engineering Manager in defining, implementing and enhancing nCipher's test, quality and release procedures.

Main Accountabilities:
• Product testing to ensure functionality, integrity, performance and robustness of all released deliverables.
• Enhance test and Quality Engineering procedures, processes and standards to ensure ongoing quality improvements across all released deliverables
• Assist with the maintenance and ongoing development of the QA test platform(s) and environment
• Contribute to the review of integration guides, installation instructions and product literature
• To provide reliable estimates of task duration and contribute fully to the peer review process.
• Liaison with Development, Support, Production and Product Management Departments
• Interoperability testing with third party software

Qualifications:
Educated to degree level or equivalent, in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant discipline.

Knowledge:
• Working within a Quality Engineering department, ideally within a dedicated test team for a minimum of 2 to 3 years.
• Working within a software development environment, ideally with an understanding of embedded software development for multiple platforms and environments including Windows and UNIX based operating systems.
• The use of formal testing procedures and systems.

Experience:
• Adept at producing project deliverables to a high standard and on time. I.e., Test plans and specifications.
• Test code development in at least one of the following: Python, Java or C
• Test frameworks such as pyunit and junit

Skills:
• The ability to analyse complex technical problems and offer innovative, reasoned and practical solutions.
• Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• The ability to prioritise, manage own workload, be flexible, work under pressure and to demanding deadlines.
• The ability to integrate quickly and make a significant contribution.

Desirable:
• An appreciation of the use of cryptography and cryptographic standards
• An awareness of Internet technologies, protocols and standards
• API testing
• Experience in using VM technologies
