Using an Ethernet interface, these SSL accelerator and offload cards replace the current network interface on the host server. As encrypted data arrives, the nCipher cards decrypt it and pass it to the host. Traffic passing back to the network is encrypted when necessary while non-SSL traffic passes through transparently. The nCipher products can support up to 10,000 new SSL/TLS connections per second, and symmetric SSL data throughput up to 300 Mb per second.
