End of Life PolicyThis document sets out nCipher's formal policy regarding destandardisation of nCipher products and its approved procedure for the announcement and management of the End-Of-Life process.DefinitionsEnd Of Life [EOL]Means that nCipher has determined that a particular software product or hardware product will no longer be sold. EOL AnnouncementMeans a public statement posted on nCipher's website [link] announcing the EOL schedule for a product. Last Time Buy [LTB]Means the date on which nCipher will cease to ship the product indicated in the EOL announcement. nCipher will normally give at least 6 months notice of LTB from the EOL Announcement. SupportMeans telephone and e-mail assistance in the use and operation of the product. This assistance will be provided by nCipher's Support Desk and is conditional on the customer having a valid support contract with nCipher. nCipher will not be able to assist a customer in attempting to use an unsupported permutation of hardware / firmware / software. End Of Support [EOS]Means the date on which nCipher will cease to Support a product and will no longer accept Support & Maintenance contract extensions. MaintenanceMeans, in the event of a hardware failure, the provision of a functionally compatible replacement device. Security AdvisoryMeans the process whereby nCipher advises of security related issues affecting products together with workarounds and / or patches. Security Advisories are visible here: http://www.ncipher.com/support/advisories.php When a product reaches a stage at which nCipher considers it to be fully enhanced a formal product statement (the "EOLAnnouncement") will be made: (a) confirming that no further enhancements or improvements will be included in future update releases for that product; (b) confirming the date beyond which nCipher will cease to supply and/or license that product (the "LTB Date"); and (c) confirming the cut off date to which Support and Maintenance will be provided in respect of that product (the "EOS Date"). All such EOL Announcements will be posted on nCipher's website at http://www.ncipher.com/support/eol_announcements.php End User CustomersIt is important to note that if you are currently in possession of a product which has been included in nCipher's End Of Life programme this will NOT affect your existing contractual rights. You should be aware however that once nCipher has announced that a product has been included in its end-of-life programme you may not purchase support and maintenance to run beyond the EOS. * Irrespective of an end user's support and maintenance status nCipher will continue to offer security-critical ("SecurityAdvisory") bug fixes or patches for all products up to their EOS Date. Reseller/Distributor PartnersThis will NOT affect your existing contractual rights save that, once nCipher has made an EOL Announcement in respect of a product (a) you must not supply that product to an end user without making that end user aware that the product has been included in nCipher's end-of-life programme and that, accordingly, support and maintenance will not be available beyond the EOS Date; and, (b) you must not supply that product to an end user after the LTB Date.
