Time stamp
A time stamp offers superior security in a digital world
Business in the Internet age relies on electronic documents, creating a need for organizations to replace the now obsolete paper trail. nCipher Time stamp technology can resolve this significant security issue. A time stamp attaches a digital signature to a file, certifying the author and date of origin, providing records that can be used to comply with industry and government regulations, meet best practice requirements, and protect intellectual property. nCipher provides secure time stamp solutions
nCipher's Time Stamp Server (TSS) is a highly reliable and cost effective solution for digitally signing documents and transactions. The TSS is a networked server that identifies the group or organization signing the document and stamps the cryptography seal and the signature with the highly accurate time of origin, making it simple to track any tampering. Using a cryptographic hash, or digital "fingerprint", the TSS effectively "freezes" the content of the document at the time of signing if a word or letter is subsequently changed, the digital signature will fail and the user will get a warning indicator. The TSS works with independently provided calibration and audit services, offering traceable and secure links to official UTC time sources. Once the TSS has been calibrated through an authenticated and secure network connection, it will provide a stamp for any request compliant with PKIX. The TSS's internal hardware security module enhances security by protecting the internal time source and storing and managing the cryptographic keys necessary for sealing and signing the document. nCipher's TSS has been independently validated to the FIPS 140-2 Level 3.
Time stamp technology and more
In addition to the TSS, nCipher also offers the TimeSource Master Clock (TMC200), a network appliance that incorporates a Rubidium atomic clock to provide accurate time for servers throughout the enterprise. Because the Rubidium clock is so accurate and does not need regular re-calibration, the TMC200 can be isolated behind the internal firewall, providing greater protection from unauthorized access and manipulation. The TMC200 is fully compatible with the nCipher TSS, and together this technology delivers a central, verifiable and highly secure solution to stamp documents with digital signatures.
nCipher also offers solutions for and SSL acceleration, enterprise PKI, data encryption and more.
